Lilliput Lane "Old Thatch Teashop"
old thatch teashop, shanklin, Isle of wight. Shanklin's old thatch teashop, on the Isle of wight, is over three hundred years old and is said to have been initially built as two fishermen's cottages. By the middle of the nineteenth Century the building became shanklin's first Post office and went on to serve as a library, bookshop, Estate agent and insurance broker's, before being converted into a tearoom in the 1940s.
But this isn't just any tearoom serving any old food, no, it's the 'best teashop & gardens on the Isle of wight', as voted for by readers of island life magazine. and, it even serves its own blend of breakfast tea, called the old thatch| this teashop was the inspiration for our 2015 annual Christmas cottage and was so popular that we thought we'd return for the summer season| visitors will know that the real teashop has an enchanting fairy garden, which we have magically recreated
